Man attacked with box cutter, Lafayette PD seeks suspect

On February 21, 2010, at approximately 9:45 pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a motel at 1604 North University Avenue regarding an Attempted Armed Robbery. The victim, a 51 year old male of Detroit, advised detectives that the suspect knocked on the door of his room and requested to use the restroom. Once inside of the room the suspect produced a box cutter and demanded money. The two men at that point began to struggle, resulting in the victim receiving a laceration to the chest. The suspect fled the room in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20's or 30's, approximately 150 lbs, with short dread locks. The victim refused medical attention.
