An Assumption Parish man is booked on his 5th DWI charge following a high speed chase. Deputies say yesterday, they tried to pull over 52-year-old Marty Jamison for going 30 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. Deputies say Jamison also crossed the centerline near Highway 308 and Spur 70. When deputies attempted to pull over the man, they say he sped up to 100 miles per hour. Making it to Iberville Parish, deputies say Jamison began to make a u-turn and slammed into a police vehicle. Deputies say they smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Jamison's breath and found an open beer bottle in the vehicle. Jamison refused a field sobriety test and a breath analyzer test, so a judicial warrant was obtained and blood was drawn for further testing by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
Marty Jamison Sr. was booked on the following charges: Driving left of Center, Improper Lane Usage, General Speeding, 9 Counts of Stop Sign Violations, 12 Counts of No Turn Signals, 2 Counts of Traffic Control Signals, Vehicles Must Yield at Railroad Crossings, Reckless Operation, Operating a Vehicle While Under Suspension for Prior DWI, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle upon a Peace Officer, Open Container , No Seatbelt and DWI 5th Offense.
