Man arrested in weekend shooting in Eunice

A Mamou man is accused of shooting another man twice in the leg after a fight in Eunice Saturday night. Tyler Blanchard, 20, is charged with attempted second degree murder. "The victim stated that he was involved in a altercation with Tyler Blanchard when Blanchard pulled out a pistol," Deputy Chief Varden Guillory Sr. said. Blanchard was later arrested at a residence on Mill Street. "During the investigation officers recovered a 22 caliber semi automatic pistol, magazines, and ammunition," Guillory said. The 20-year-old victim is recovering.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, Blanchard is charged with Illegal Use of a Weapon, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Simple Battery and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
