OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) Authorities say a 25-year-old man has been booked with manslaughter in the death of a 2-year-old girl.
Sheriff Bobby Guidroz tells The Daily World that Napoleon J. Prudhomme of Opelousas was arrested Tuesday morning at his home.
Guidroz said the investigation began when officer received a call on May 5 regarding a nonresponsive child.
He said the toddler died two days later at a Lafayette hospital.
Guidroz said an autopsy found the girl died from trauma to the head.
He said Prudhomme is the boyfriend of the toddler's mother and was taking care of the child at the time of the injury.
It was not immediately known whether Prudhomme has an attorney.
