A New Iberia man is behind bars for false impersonation of a police officer. Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Norman John Hebert II. Deputies say that Hebert who was posing as a Sheriff's Deputy, had left a voice-mail advising that the complainant had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The victim contacted the Sheriff's Office and advised them of the voice-mail. Detectives confirmed that the victim did not have any warrants for his arrest or that any employee with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office had attempted to contact him. Hebert was questioned by detectives and subsequently charged and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.

Hebert was arrested for false impersonation of a police officer, extortion, and telephone harassment.
