Deputies from the Lafayette City Marshal's office arrested a 27-year-old man Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear in Lafayette City Court on a charge that he chased an 11-year-old kid while brandishing a knife.
Jacoby Norris James Broussard's failure to appear on an aggravated assault charge resulted in his arrest in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Drive in Lafayette.
According to Marshal Earl Picard, Broussard also was wanted on a state probation/parole warrant. Picard said that Broussard's sentence had been suspended since March 2013 on a previous charge of aggravated flight from an officer in the 15th Judicial Court, but that Broussard violated the terms of his probation and even had left the state without permission.
Picard, who noted that Broussard's prior record dates back to 2007, explained that Broussard is charged with disturbing the peace, resisting an officer, and threatening a public official.
