On July 8, 2010 @ approximately 2317 hours officers with the Carencro Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of Amesbury Dr. in Lafayette in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress.
Upon arrival officers spoke to the victim who advised that her 3 year old daughter's father was at her residence and he had been allegedly been drinking alcohol. The victim stated that the baby's father allegedly asked her several times to engage in sexual intercourse in which she declined each time. The suspect left the residence and returned a short time later indicating that he was too intoxicated to drive and wished to sleep at the residence. He was allowed to stay on the couch however he allegedly grabbed her phone to see who she was talking to. The suspect allegedly broke items in the residence and attacked the victim strangling her and trying to remove her clothing and covering her mouth to keep her quiet. The complainant stated that her child awoke to the noise at which time the suspect broke the victim's phone and left the residence.
The suspect had left prior to the officer's arrival therefore an arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect and he was arrested on July 13, 2010 in St. Landry Parish by Carencro Police and St. Landry authorities. The suspect was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center awaiting bond.
