A Patterson man faces a host of charges after he allegedly led a St. Mary Parish sheriff deputies on a high-speed chase. The incident took place last night just before midnight on James Street in Amelia. Officials say Joseph Young's vehicle was parked in the middle of the road. According to the deputy, when he approached the car, Young sped away. Young allegedly led the deputy on a chase down LA 182, James Street, and Grace Street before taking off on foot. Young also allegedly punched the officer during his arrest. Deputies later learned the car was stolen from Lafayette.
Young is charged with aggravated flight from an officer, possession of stolen things, hit-and-run driving, resisting an officer, battery of an officer, and several other various charges. He is being held in the St. Mary Parish Jail without bond.
