DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (AP) - State police say a 34-year-old Denham Springs man is accused of texting while driving and of two hit-and-run wrecks, one of which injured a 17-year-old boy. Trooper Russell Graham II said Sunday that Andrew J. Williams also was booked late Saturday with negligent injury and reckless driving.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says Williams remained jailed Sunday in lieu of $27,000 bond.
State police say one wreck late Friday was outside a Livingston Parish bar; the other injured Justin Beck, who was walking his bicycle along the shoulder of Louisiana Highway 16.
Police say Beck had been hospitalized but was recovering at home Sunday.
Graham says troopers and deputies arrested Williams at his parents' home in Denham Springs.
He says damage to Williams' pickup truck was consistent with both crashes.
