Man accused of beating pregnant girlfriend

An Elton man is accused of choking, punching and kicking his girlfriend who's five months pregnant. Norman Cesar II, 24, and his girlfriend began fighting Sunday, June 24 in Eunice after she caught him with another woman and shattered windows on his car, according to Eunice Police Deputy Chief Varden Guillory. "Cesar then exited the vehicle and grabbed her by the neck and choked her with both hands. He then forced her back into her vehicle and ordered her to drive him back to her apartment in the Sunrise Community Apartment complex where he's forbidden," said Guillory. Four hours earlier, police arrested him for remaining after being forbidden at the apartment complex. The fight between the couple happened after Cesar bonded out of jail. Cesar is a former resident of Eunice.

Once inside the apartment, "he began choking her again and struck her in the face with his fists several times," said Guillory. Cesar left the apartment and returned later. "He came back and kicked in the window air conditioner to make entry into the apartment." Cesar is accused of holding a knife to his girlfriend's throat and punching and kicking her in the stomach. "When she finally escaped she ran to a neighbor to notify police. She was treated at the hospital for blunt abdominal trauma. She and her baby are okay.

Officers arrested Cesar on a warrant on July 2. He is being held without bond in the Eunice City Jail and will appear for lineup on Thursday July 5. Cesar is charged with Attempted 1st Degree Feticide, Domestic Abuse Battery, Simple Kidnapping, Criminal Trespassing, Criminal Damage to Property, Home Invasion, Entry on Premises after being Forbidden and Aggravated Assault.
