Man accused of 5th offense DWI

A 48-year-old West Monroe man is accused of 5th offense DWI after being arrested by Morgan City Police Wednesday night.

According to police, a reckless driver was reported to police in the area of Highway 90 and Martin Luther King. Officers arrived and observed a vehicle matching the description being driven in an erratic manner, using both lanes of travel police say. The vehicle was stopped and the driver , Charles Carter detained. Police say Carter almost fell as he exited the vehicle, exhibited signs of impairment and was given a field sobriety test. Carter was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he submitted a blood alcohol concentration of .231g%.

Carter was booked, incarcerated and charged with Driving While Intoxicated-Fifth Offense; Improper Lane Usage.
