Man accused in deadly BR holdup extradited

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police say a 40-year-old man has been extradited from California to face charges in a botched drug deal-turned-armed robbery that left one of his relatives dead.

Police Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said Tuesday that Marcus Heard of Baton Rouge would be booked with second-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal use of a weapon.

He said Heard and two other men allegedly went to rob a man who was expecting to buy drugs from them Jan. 14. The man shot at them. Police say Marcus Heard was the only one who escaped.

Twenty-six-year-old Robert Heard was killed. Twenty-eight-year-old Jermaine DeWayne Clark was shot, and was booked with second-degree murder and armed robbery after he got out of a hospital.

Marcus Heard was arrested March 23 in Sacramento.
