Man, 80, admits to sex crimes

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - An 80-year-old sex offender scheduled to stand trial this week on 50 counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile pleaded has pleaded guilty.

Beth McGee, Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office spokeswoman, tells the American Press that Charles L. Bergeron pleaded guilty Wednesday to 12 counts each of oral sexual battery and indecent behavior. He also pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree sexual battery.

On Jan. 13, Bergeron was sentenced to 10 years for failing to register as a sex offender.

He was also convicted in 2000 of molestation.

State District Judge Clayton Davis will sentence Bergeron on June 13.
