Mamou Nursing Home Beating Arrest

An update today in the nursing home beating KATC brought to you on August 30, 2010. Mamou Police have arrested a nursing home employee.

Christine Freeman, 21, is charged with one felony count of cruelty to the infirmed. She's being held on $50,000 bond.

Freeman was a nurse responsible for changing bed linens at Savoy Care Center in Mamou. Family members of Mary Frances Howard filed a complaint on August 27 after they discovered bruises on the 89 year old woman.

Howard had two black eyes and other bruises on her body. She is bed ridden and paralyzed, following a series of strokes that happened four years ago.

Freeman is being held in jail on a $50,000 bond.
