In Iberia Parish, a well known seafood and steakhouse went up in flames Sunday morning.
It's still unknown what caused the fire at Landry's Seafood in Jeanerette. The fire started around one o'clock and several fire departments were on scene until 6:30 Sunday morning extinguishing the flames.
"It's crazy because it has a lot of people and business with being right off the highway. There is going to be a lot of disappointed people," said Saiana Pichoff who eats at Landry's occasionally.
Landry's Seafood and Steakhouse is typically booming on a Sunday, with people coming out to enjoy a family friendly atmosphere and some good food.
"I love the barbecue on Sunday," said Alexis Pichoff.
Sunday, the parking lot was a ghost town.
"My parents put a lot of time into this place and they do a lot of things themselves," said Lauren Landry.
Landry's has been in the family for three generations, but because of the fire they will be closed until the damage can be repaired.
"The kitchen is gone. Everything is gone in the kitchen. My mom's office which is upstairs is gone, and there is a lot of smoke and water damage in the main dining room," said Landry.
Though times are tough for the Landry's, they are optimistic about the future.
"We're going to do what we can to get re-opened and start back up."
The Landry's hope to re-open within the next six to eight weeks.
