Lafayette, LA - The Acadiana Center for the Arts is proud to announce a performance by alltime
great American singer/songwriter - Lyle Lovett. Lovett and his Large Band will be on stage at AcA's Gala Opening Night, in celebration of its new performing arts theater. The sold-out
performance on Saturday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m. should be the highlight of the 10 day Grand Opening series, which include dance and family performances, Louisiana Crossroads, a Met
Opera live-broadcast, an independent film screening and an extended November ArtWalk. For nearly three decades, Lovett has defined the modern Texas singer-songwriter. Fusing
elements of the blues, country, folk, gospel and jazz, four-time Grammy winner Lovett-in a career that spans 14 albums and more than four million records sold-has created his own style
of Americana, defying convention and breaking down barriers along the way.
The 2010 tour features Lyle Lovett and his Large Band, a formidable musical collective. It's a swinging Texas big band one minute; an R&B unit the next; an uptown jazz orchestra the one
after that; and then a righteous, gospel outfit. Subtract a few players for a minute and the Large Band becomes a small one, perfectly suited for subtly enhancing the most intimate and
understated songs from Lovett's deep catalog.
In concert and on record, Lyle Lovett's stories and songs are a powerful reminder that he possesses one of the most distinctive voices in music.
