The LSU Eunice baseball team has regained its spot atop the rankings in the latest national poll released by the NJCAA today.
The Bengals, 45-8, entered the season as preseason No. 1 and had held the position all season until dropping to the second spot in last week's poll.
In this week's poll, LSU Eunice received nine of the 10 first place votes to regain the No. 1 ranking and jump over Des Moines Area Community College.
The remaining top 10 saw a shake up as well.
The new No. 3 team is the University of Connecticut at Avery Point, who jumped three spots in this week's poll, followed by Heartland Community College, who stayed put at No. 4, and Western Oklahoma State College, dropping two spots to No. 5.
Fredrick Community College dropped one spot to No. 6, while Scottsdale Community College (No. 7) and Pearl River Community College (No. 8) each moved up a spot in the poll.
Madison College jumped two spots to No. 9 in this week's poll, while No. 10 Catawba Valley Community College moved five positions up in the poll to round out the top 10.
Bengal starting pitcher Brady Domingue leads the country with 12 wins and Casey Rodrigue has stolen 61 bases to lead that category, breaking the LSU Eunice single-season stolen base record last weekend. Fellow Bengal Landon Thibodeaux is third in the nation with 47 steals as well.
Domingue also has tallied 99 strikeouts this season, the third-most in the country. Stefan Trosclair is tied for seventh in the country with 53 RBIs.
The Bengals wrap up its 2013 regular season on the road this weekend with a three-game set against NCAA opponent Southern University. The two teams open the series with a 6 p.m. game Friday night before a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
