BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU campuses have been ordered to provide details in January on which specific academic programs and other offerings would be cut if colleges lose another 10 percent of their state funds.
Campus leaders have resisted offering too many specifics for fear such detailed information might lead to a greater exodus of faculty and students.
But LSU System President John Lombardi's letter wrote a letter Friday to system chancellors. The Advocate reports that in the letter he insists that it is now time to explain to the LSU Board of Supervisors what may happen in "explicit and specific detail." Lombardi also noted time is needed to prepare necessary employee notifications of furloughs or layoffs.
