BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU has received a $1.2 million gift for its mass communication school.
Charles and Carole Lamar donated the money to establish a "visiting scholars endowment" in the Manship School of Mass Communications' Reilly Center for Media and Public Affairs. The university announced the donation Monday.
The money will pay for the Reilly Center to annually bring a visiting scholar to campus. The scholars will be chosen by the dean of the mass communication school. LSU says each scholar will teach
and work on a project aimed at finding improvements for media systems.
The donation boosts the university's Forever LSU fundraising campaign. Its goal was to raise more than $750 million by the end of this year. So far, donors have contributed $753 million to the campaign.
