BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A former LSU health care administrator is heading to Arkansas.

Roxane Townsend will become the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences' vice chancellor of clinical affairs and CEO of its 434-bed medical center Feb. 1.

Townsend said on Thursday that concerns about the direction of health care delivery under Gov. Bobby Jindal influenced her decision.

She said, "I cannot be effective here. I'm not sure what they are doing is going to be best for the state."

Jindal is pushing to move patient care to private hospitals and away from LSU facilities.

Townsend had been the LSU System's assistant vice president for health systems until September when she was ousted during a leadership shake-up. Under terms of her contract, she could have stayed working at LSU.
