LSU AG guest Stan Dutile stops by GMA to inform us about the Louisiana Horse Industry and the 4-H Horse Shows. There is about $470 million in Louisiana's horse industry, and $100 million comes from Lafayette parish and the 5 parishes that surround it. This weekend the Acadiana District Horse Show takes place at the Sugar Arena in New Iberia. Friday, July 5th and Saturday, July 6th, there will be horses from around the area competing in speed and halter events.
The La State Horse Show will be July 9-13, 2013, at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, Louisiana.
4 - H enrollment is from August until September in the upcoming 2013-2014 school year. The purpose of the 4-H horse program is to provide young people to improve citizenship, sportsmanship, horsemanship, character, competitive spirit, discipline and responsibility.
