The Lafayette Parish School System's budget crisis creates a new problem less than three weeks before the first day of school. The school system started with a $23.5 million budget deficit. Over several weeks, the board chipped away at the deficit --- it's now $7 million. Now, the board is declaring a critical teacher shortage. Today at 5 and 6, KATC's Ashlea Bullington talks to the superintendent about why he thinks the budget battle is turning away new teachers.
