The Lafayette Parish School System has released this statement regarding the possibility of school closures on Tuesday due to sub-freezing temperatures:
"LPSS Superintendent Dr. Cooper, Assistant Superintendent Sandra Billeaudeau and others will monitor the weather impact on Lafayette Parish schools and road conditions throughout today and the night. The only reason LPSS would close the entire district is if they are advised by legal authorities that there are significant road closures and/or power outages. The leadership group will also assess the need to close individual schools if heating systems fail or water pipes break. For now, all schools in Lafayette Parish are scheduled to open for students on Tuesday, January 7th at its regular time."
