The Lafayette Parish School System is proposing an increase in the cost of school meals.
According to Wednesday's Lafayette Parish School Board meeting agenda, the proposal would increase student meals by 25 cents and non-student meals by 50 cents.
The proposal is based on annual increases in cost of food, supplies, labor, and overall operating expenses related to school meals, the agenda states.
The last meal price increase to school meals was implemented in the 2008-2009 school year.
Because the proposal is listed as an introduction item, it might not be voted on until next month.
If the board passes the measure, it would take effect for the 2014-2015 school year.
