The Lafayette Parish School System is accepting proposals for developing a piece of property at the corner of Ambassador Caffery and Ridge Road. A gas station once operated there, but the property has been vacant for six years due to environmental concerns. LPSS Finance Director Matt Dugas says the state Department of Environmental Quality has finally given the green light to develop the area without restriction. Dugas adds that this will be a revenue source for the school system. He said that when the gas station was open, the school system generated nearly $6000 in monthly revenue.
According to Dugas, the school board will accept proposals for either or both the abandoned gas station and the undeveloped acre of land directly behind it. A walk-through of the building will take place on April 8 at 1:30 P. M. and on April 15 at 1:30 P. M. Anyone interested in submitting a proposal for the land may contact Dugas at 337-521-7307 for more information.
