LPD officer dies in off-duty boating accident

Yesterday, Officer Joel Grayson of the Lafayette Police Department died in a boating accident at Lake Maurepas.
The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says, 29-year-old Grayson jumped into the water to retrieve the boat's anchor, after a passing boat sliced the line.
Grayson sustained an injury from the boats propeller.
He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales. He later passed away.
