LPD mourns loss of officer in boating accident

On June 23, 2012, Corporal Joel Grayson, a 5 ½ year veteran of the Lafayette Police Department, was boating in Livingston Parish when he was killed in an accident. The incident is being investigated by agents with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Agency.
Corporal Grayson was assigned as a member of the Lafayette Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit and an operator on the LPD S.W.A.T Team. He was a recipient of the Lafayette Police Department's most prestigious honor, The Medal of Valor. The Lafayette Police Department respectfully offers its condolences and support to Joel Grayson's wife and family.
