The conclusion of Louisiana Public Broadcasting's Art & Travel Auction will be televised live on LPB on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 7:00pm and on WLAE-TV32 in New Orleans at 8PM. This is the largest auction to date with more than 200 artists donating more than 275 pieces of art. The Art & Travel Auction is not only a fundraiser for Friends of Louisiana Public Broadcasting, but it is also an excellent showcase for the work of Louisiana artists.
During the statewide broadcast, the donated art will be grouped by regions to spotlight the unique artistic traditions from each area of the state.
There are two ways to bid. Bids can be called in during the broadcast or placed online through the LPB website (lpb.org/auction). More than 75% of the last year's bids were placed online. Another way to purchase is through the "Buy It Now" option, which allows bidders to purchase art at 20% below the retail price.
Bidders can also vote online for their favorite artist to win this year's People's Choice Award.
Partners in this year's auction include Lynne & Jeff Pisto, RoyOMartin, Turner Industries, Mr. & Mrs. Lee Baxter, Country Roads Magazine, Heirloom Cuisine, Events by Sarah Ashley and Baton Rouge Coca-Cola. A big thanks also goes out to our Art & Travel Auction Chairs, Lynne Pisto and Shannon Sullivan Allen, for their tireless efforts to make this auction a huge success.
