NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Aspiring opera stars will be auditioning for the Metropolitan Opera this weekend at Loyola University New Orleans, and anyone can sit in and listen.
District auditions on Saturday are free, with tickets $10 for the regional auditions on Sunday afternoon. Admission is free for students and members of Amici, the volunteer support group for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
The winner of the regional auditions will advance to the national semifinal round in March on the Metropolitan Opera Stage in New York City.
Judges will include retired Metropolitan Opera singer Anthony Lacuria, who graduated from Loyola in 1974 and currently stars in the critically-acclaimed HBO series "Boardwalk Empire."
