JENNINGS, La. (AP) - Authorities have recovered a Lake Arthur
woman's body from a submerged vehicle in Bayou Nezpique
(neh-PEE'-kay), east of Jennings.
Divers pulled the body of 42-year-old Rhonda Istre Tucker from
the submerged car several yards from the shoreline at about 11:20
a.m. Monday. She was taken to a hospital in Jennings where she was
pronounced dead.
Police said the driver of the vehicle,
23-year-old Edwin Evans of Jennings, managed to escape without
injuries and swim to the nearby shore. Police say he has been
booked with vehicular homicide and careless operation.
Sheriff Ricky Edwards said witnesses told police the car was
moving forward when it went down the boat ramp and into the water.
