Louisiana Sheriffs' Honorary Membership Program

Responding to the increasing number of people wanting to assist law enforcement officials and build a stronger partnership in the fight against crime, Sheriff Mark Hebert announces that St. Mary Parish citizens are invited to become Honorary Members of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Honorary Membership Program.

Funds from membership dues help to provide crucial technical resources, training, and legislative support on key criminal justice issues. The Drug Abuse Awareness Program (D.A.R.E.) and the Louisiana Sheriffs' Scholarship Program, both implemented in St. Mary Parish, are two examples of the types of programs supported by the Louisiana Sheriffs' Honorary Membership Program.

Membership appeals have already gone out in the mail. Individuals choosing to join the voluntary program may do so for $20, while businesses can show their support with a $35 contribution.

Members will receive a 2013 membership card and window decal. Members will also receive a subscription to the official publication of Louisiana's Chief Law Enforcement Officers, The Louisiana Sheriff.

Individuals who do not receive a membership appeal and would like more information may contact the Louisiana Sheriffs' Honorary Membership Program at 1175 Nicholson Drive, Suite 101 Baton Rouge, LA 70802 or at 225-383-2871. More information on the Honorary Membership Program may also be found by visiting www.LSA.org.

Residents may also become members by contacting the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-828-1960 or 985-384-1622.

The membership program was formed to provide citizens with an opportunity to lend their support to local law enforcement officers to help protect the lives and property of citizens.

"As the need for building stronger public-private partnerships in the parish continues to escalate, the importance of programs like this continues to grow," said Sheriff Mark Hebert. "We encourage everyone receiving a membership appeal to consider joining forces with us by becoming an Honorary Member. It is a valuable investment in our future."
