BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The state homeland security office has sent two employees to assist with shelters and coordinating donations following last month's tornadoes in Joplin, Mo.
Missouri made the request through an agreement that allows states to draw assistance from other states following a disaster.
Missouri sent emergency assistance workers, including National Guard troops, to Louisiana following hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Gustav.
Missouri received a presidential disaster declaration on May 9 for severe storms, tornadoes and flooding.
