The reason behind the Louisiana Pepperplex is easy, sports.
But it's purpose is something greater.
"If we can keep our children busy the temptations of today's age will be a lot less," says Pepperplex founder Troy Comeaux.
Six years ago Comeaux and a group of volunteers started the Pepperplex.
They now level ground for the next phase thanks to a $20,000 grant from Super 1 Foods and Kellogg's.
"Anytime you can invest into the youth of our community it's a win win situation for everyone involved," says Super 1 rep Faron Thibodeaux.
Once work is finished there will be 9 new soccer fields and something new to the pepperplex, 4 new batting cages
Ccomeaux says getting the grant to make this expansion, for him, is a life fulfilling experience, "when you drive and you see this parking lot full of cars and little kids 5 to 12-13 years old out here enjoying themselves in a good family atmosphere and recreation..nothing can replace that."
Work to the Pepperplex should be finished by Early next year.
