Those who knew Bryan Henderson say his love of aviation and commitment to serving in the Armed Forces was an extension of the love Henderson had for his community.
"This has been very hard on many members of the community because we were close to his family and a lot of community members knew him and its been a tough loss," says Bryan Gunter, Henderson's former teacher at Franklin Parish High School.
Henderson was an alumni of Franklin Parish High School, where students, family members and veterans gathered to hold a flag ceremony for the fallen soldier.
"It hurt me in the heart, it just was such a shock you hear about these crashes and kids dying all the time but its hit home now and it does hurt," says Jennie Box, another of Henderson's former teachers.
The north Louisiana native graduated from ULM in 2006, and had a passion for aviation...visiting the school every semester after her graduated to speak with aviation students.
He earned a private pilot's license while in college and also had a job at a local airport.
One family member I spoke to today said Henderson was born to fly, and that he would say, "How many people get up every day and get to do what they love? I do."
