The Louisiana National Guard's highest officer has fired his top enlisted adviser over alleged sexual harassment.
Lt. Col. Michael Kazmierzak, a guard spokesman, says another guard member made a complaint against 53-year-old Sgt. Maj. Tommy Caillier (KY-AY) about 1 ½ weeks ago. He says investigators found there had been sexual harassment and are looking into an allegation of sexual assault.
No telephone listing was available for Caillier. Kazmierzak said on Sunday that he asked for representation by the regional trial defense counsel.
Caillier was Maj. Gen. Glenn Curtis's top adviser on all matters affecting enlisted soldiers and airmen in the Louisiana National Guard.
Kazmierzak says Curtis removed Caillier from active duty and named Command Sgt. Maj. James Mays his replacement.
The allegations and dismissal were first reported by The Times-Picayune.
