MONROE, La. (AP) - The University of Louisiana-Monroe plans to add a new high-definition video display board and state-of-the-art sound system at Malone Stadium just in time for the 2011 football season.
The project is pending final approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
Director of Athletics Bobby Staub said Friday that the project, though a long time coming, will add to fans' experiences and be well worth the wait. The new 15-millimeter display board will be one of the largest in the Sun Belt Conference. It will feature nearly 1,600 square feet of total video space, including an area 23-feet tall by 49-feet wide dedicated to video and 450 square feet of video advertising space.
Staub told The News-Star that the school's baseball, softball and soccer complexes will receive new scoreboards over the next year.
