Louisiana is ranked first in the nation in Advanced Placement

Louisiana is getting good news when it comes to high school advanced placement classes.

The Louisiana Department of Education says the state is ranked first in the nation in Advanced Placement improvement for the Class of 2013.

Louisiana ranks third in the nation for the increase in the percentage of graduates taking an AP exam during high school.

Advanced Placement courses allow high school students to earn college credit while working towards their high school diplomas. According to LDOE, research shows that students who take AP courses are more likely to graduate in four years and have higher college grade point averages.
