Louisiana drug suspect shot to death

PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) - Police say a narcotics officer shot and killed a suspected drug dealer inside a Port Allen motel room during an undercover operation.
Maj. Richie Johnson, of the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, told The Advocate that the unidentified suspect was expected to sell painkillers to an undercover narcotics agent Wednesday night.
Johnson said the situation turned violent when the man deviated from what agents expected, pulled out a gun and tried to rob and shoot the undercover officer. He said the sheriff's agent pulled
his own weapon, fired off several rounds and killed the man.
Police have not released the identity of the dead man or the name of the officer involved in the shooting.
