BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana's state-licensed casinos saw a
9.3 percent drop in revenue last month from the previous May.
State police report that the 13 riverboat casinos, Harrah's
downtown New Orleans casino and the four casinos at race tracks
took in $203.6 million in May. That's down from $224.6 million in
May 2009 - and, despite the Memorial Day weekend, only up a bit
from the $200.5 million won in April 2010.
The riverboats - many of which cater to Texas gamblers - won
$137.7 million last month, down from $152.5 million a year ago. The
New Orleans casino won $30.8 million, down from $34 million in May
2009 and the track casinos took in $35.1 million, down from $38.1
million a year ago.
