Tracie Lenormand along with participants raised more than $9,000 for the Acadiana Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. She organized the fundraiser over her lunch hour and in between clients at her hair salon. She gathered community partners and promoted the event to the community.
Two years ago, Tracie Lenormand found out some devastating news: her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer; it was in its advanced stages; and she would not have long to live. Tracie, owner of The New Salon Rouge, in Carencro, did not accept this news and decided they would go for a second opinion.
But after a second, less dire opinion, and through the support of local physicians, Tracie's mother went through chemotherapy and radiation, and is now doing very well.
That situation forever changed the way that Tracie viewed breast cancer.
