Local Law Enforcement Participate in Texas Police Olympics


Earlier this week, local police agencies combined to form Team Louisiana and represent the state in the Texas Police Olympics held near Houston! The team was composed of 5 members of the Opelousas Police Department, 3 members of Alexandria Police Department, 1 St. Landry Parish Deputy, 1 Lafayette Firefighter, 1 State Trooper, and 1 Harris County Deputy. Team Louisiana competed in the softball division and finished with 4 wins and 2 loses in route to a 4th place finish out of 25 teams. Team Louisiana was led by Chief Gallow of Opelousas PD who had previous knowledge of the games while playing for powerful Team Texas. After Opelousas PD won this years Louisiana Lights & Sirens tourney over Alexandria PD, Chief Gallow felt by combining with APD a strong team could form to compete in the Police Olympic Games. Team Louisiana did compete losing it's two games by only 2 runs. The 4th place finish qualified Team Louisiana for the National Police Games in October held in Las Vegas. Chief Gallow praised the efforts of sponsors who helped to make the trip to Houston possible! Chief Gallow stated that continued support and a couple of fundraisers could make it possible to participate in the National Games!
