Local dentists coordinate Halloween candy exchange to support troops Overseas

For the second year, Kool Smiles in Lafayette is coordinating "Operation Troop Treats" to encourage children to bring their Halloween candy to the Dental Office in exchange for a toy. The candy will then be sent in care packages to U.S. troops serving overseas via Operation Gratitude. Kool Smiles hopes the program will teach kids good dental hygiene and uplift armed forces serving abroad.

The Kool Smiles dentists in Lafayette are asking children to bring in their Halloween candy so it can be sent to U.S. troops serving overseas. In exchange, the children can have their choice of up to three toys.

The dental team sees this as a win-win for everyone involved, giving children an incentive to give up candy for a great cause and teaching them about good dental hygiene while giving back to the troops.

Operation Troop Treats will except candy from Friday, November 1 through Wednesday, November 6 at Kool Smiles, 2001 NW Evangeline Thwy, LaFayette.
