LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) - The president of the Livingston Parish school board says finances again will be the major challenge facing the school system in 2012.
Malcolm Sibley says the board would be tasked with increasing capacity because of the parish's continued growth.
The school board declared a financial exigency, or crisis, froze employee pay and instituted three furlough days for employees in the 2011-2012 school year.
Sibley said he has heard no projections for a 2012-2013 deficit.
He says increased student population will necessitate more school construction.
