No one was injured in an early morning house fire in Mamou thanks to the swift thinking of a young child.

"If it wouldn't have been for him waking up and getting me up we would have probably all burned alive," says Earnest Rashall.

His son Alandon was sleeping, when a noise from the kitchen woke him up.

"I was hearing a fire sound," says Alandon, "thought it was skittles falling on the floor, but it was fire."

The little hero went into action.

Without hesitation, the little hero went to alert his father's who was asleep in the bed room

Earnest tried to put out the fire but it was too powerful.

He quickly took Alandon, his three year old daughter and 19 month old son outside.

It took firefighters five hours to put out flames.

Everyone made it out alive, becauase of Alandon.

It took the six year old a while to admit it, but he accepts the title he deserves.
