NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A line of severe thunderstorms continues to move across southeast Louisiana.
The National Weather Service says the line contains heavy rain, frequent lightning and strong winds, prompting several tornado warnings Wednesday. There is a possibility of an isolated tornado in this system.
The weather service says the high winds have caused tree damage and downed power lines in Plaquemine and St. Gabriel. Minor street flooding is reported in the Baton Rouge area.
Power outages are also reported in the New Orleans area.
In addition, officials have shut down the Causeway Bridge as the storm blows across Lake Pontchartrain.
