RUSTON, La. (AP) - State police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Lincoln Parish that left one man dead and another in serious condition.
The accident happened around 1:45 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 167 south of Ruston.
Troopers say a pickup, driven by 32-year-old Earnest G. Chatman of Jonesboro, left the road, struck a portion of the bridge rail, went airborne, rolled onto its roof and came to rest on the road in an upright position.
Both the driver and passenger, 24-year-old Jermane Washington of Nacogdoches, Texas, were ejected during the crash.
Chatman was pronounced dead at the scene and Washington was airlifted to LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.
