Lightning to Blame for House Fire in Scott

On July 3, 2012 at 6:00 the Scott Fire Department responded to a reported house fire located at 3513 W. Gloria Switch Road. Upon arrival at 6:10, units observed heavy smoke and fire coming from the attic area of the home.

Firefighters gained access into the attic in an effort to extinguish the fire, which was located in the attic and quickly brought under control and extinguished. The fire was contained to the attic area and moderate in damage.

An investigation of the incident concluded that a lighting strike to the roof of the home ignited the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Unit and personnel from Duson, Carencro and Mire Fire Departments responded to assist.
