Lightning starts marsh fire

CAMERON, La. (AP) - Officials say a marsh fire burning in Cameron Parish will not endanger any structures or residents.
Cameron Office of Emergency Preparedness Director Eddie Benoit tells the American Press a lightning strike started the fire on Sunday.
Benoit says emergency officials closed La. Highway 82 to through traffic on Tuesday because of the smoke.
He said the fire on Tuesday was between Oak Grove and the Mermentau River Bridge, about 20 miles from Cameron.
Benoit says officials will monitor the fire and he expects it to remain well south of any structures.
