For the second time in six months, City-Parish Council has removed three Housing Authority commissioners from their posts.
Joe Dennis, Leon Simmons and John Freeman appealed City-Parish President Joey Durel's decision to remove the trio after they allegedly held a closed meeting in October.
Wednesday night, their appeal took more than three hours. But in the end, council sided with Durel's decision to remove them.
Now former commissioner Leon Simmons tells KATC this decision will once again go to district court.
The first time this happened, a judge ruled in favor of the commissioners, saying Durel's decision to remove only three of the four commissioners at the time wasn't fair.
However, before they make it to court, HUD officials say they're looking at the possibility of sanctioning the three, effectively keeping them out of any Housing Authority matters.
Former commissioner Simmons says if that happens, they plan to challenge that decision in federal court.
