The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society held a fundraiser at Blacks Oyster Bar in Abbeville. The event is part of a 10-week series on behalf of cancer patients to raise money for future research. Todays event was in honor of 5-year old Cale Langlinais who is suffering from leukemia. Cale was unable to make the event, but his grandparents were on hand to greet supporters. "Cale is really our whole life and we really want to see him get better, I hope this test they come out with will really do the trick," says Jeanette Delcambra.
U-L football players and the Abbeville Fire Department were on hand to show their support for the 5-year old boy. The football players say they enjoy helping the community any way they can. "After football is over you want to spend your time doing something to help the community and I think this is a great cause," says Brett Baer.
If Cale reaches the 50,000 goal, the L-L-S will donate a scholarship in his honor at an event on April 18 in the Cajun Dome event center. For more information visit www.lls.org.
